NCIS - as if I needed another fandom...
So I started watching NCIS as my cable gave it's last gasps, and guess what? I got hooked. As if I need another fandom...
But... since what I watched on cable was a decent bit of season 3, I figured I'd go out and buy season 1. And now I'm even more hooked.
So, all in all, fun and easy to watch. I'm going to be hanging around in this one for a while; but if you think I'm going to abandon SG-1, well... nope! Not getting rid of me that easily...

On the up-side, it's a fun show to watch. The characters are interesting in their own right, and as in most - if not all - good shows, the character-interaction is top-notch.
I have to admit, though, that at first I was a little annoyed with Gibbs. Hey, I think Harmon is hot, no doubt, but I was annoyed with Gibbs being such a hero. Yes, I'm aware that having watched SG-1 religiously for a year and a half has probably spoiled me on a lot of things. I mean, we're talking about a show where people die regularly. Not a lot of shows you can say that about, now is there?
But... it got better. I like that everybody is so layered. Gibbs with his gruff hard-ass persona, working - well, practically living - in that boat of his. DiNozzo - and my do I think Weatherly has improved since his Dark Angel days. He's adding whole realms to DiNozzo, all with the way he looks on occasion. Ducky, who's brilliant and annoying, all rolled up in one - and don't you just get the feeling sometimes, that there's a whole lot buried in his past you don't hear anything about? Kate is a little annoying, although not nearly as much as some female characters I shall refrain from mentioning... Abby on the other hand... I really really love Abby. Brilliant, without being arrogant (well not overly so). Geeky without being boring. Feminine without being a "good girl". Yeah, what's not to love?
Yeah, it's not a show about the big questions in life, and I don't think I'll ever love it as much as I love some of my other fandoms (SG-1, West Wing and Crusade springs to mind immediately), but it's good entertainment.
Sadly, there doesn't seem to be written too much good slash for this show. Oh, there's a lot of Gibbs/DiNozzo floating around out there, but a lot of it is... bad *shudders*.
And it's a pity, really, because the show itself (at least what I've seen of season 1 so far) offers so many good openings. So many bits and pieces a writer can pick up on. And, oh yeah, sometimes this show is so easy to slash, it isn't even funny! I'm so very thankful they haven't gone with the obvious office-romance (thank you! SG-1's spoiled me for that for life!); all without removing the non-intrusive flirting and tension. And a big thank you for that!
