Pandora's clock - I didn't know!

So, I'm a fan of RDA, which should come as a surprise to absolutely noone. Which means I drool right along with everyone else when I watch Pandora's clock.
Entriely aside: I hate the fact I can't buy Pandora's clock and a bunch of other movies with RDA. What's with that? I'm acutally terribly, terribly tempted to download the crappy version you can probably find on BitTorrent or eMule or something - when in reality I'd pay for it on DVD. So... excuse me, movie-makers... but I wouldn't yell too loudly about people pirating your movies, while you refuse to give us a legal way to acquire them.
And, sure, I know it isn't that black-and-white, because there are people who record movies in cinnemas and what-not, but I'll dare the comment that the people who download those crappy versions aren't real movie-fans anyway. Or they could never stomach 2+ hours of gritty, bad-quality film.
And really, it wouldn't cost them a bundle. Digitize your movies and put them on a big server - and burn-on-demand. It wouldn't cost you anything, because the price would be equal to the cost. You'd get a lot of happy customers - and you could, with a clear conscience, hunt the remaining pirates into the ground, for all I care.
Aanyway... I was talking about Pandora's clock, which I always thought was a mini-series. So imagine my surprise when I was shelving books at my local library - and found a book titled Pandora's clock! Turned out it was the book the mini-series was based on.
I couldn't resist, of course. So I borrowed it. And laughed out loud somewhere in the first 10 pages, because our female heroine spots this totally drool-worthy captain at the airport and can't tear her eyes from him. And... yes... she practically drooled. Which all makes perfect sense to me, because I've got this mental image of Captain Holland as portrayed by RDA. LOL
Seriously - they would've been hard pressed to find a better actor for the job. With the possible exception of Mark Harmon, who doesn't have the height, nor the build. And, seriously, I can so overlook the descriptions of Holland's wonderful blue eyes, because I love RDA's brown ones so much...
Yes, I'm a fan-girl. Please, put me out of my misery...

Date: 2007-05-26 03:06 pm (UTC)I totally know how you feel with the book! last year, in december, I was home at my aunt who has a wonderful big book collection (yes I'm a geek, sue me) and I was plowing through it when my eyes stopped at, yes, Pandora's clock! woot! and yes I was giggling madly when I read the droll-part in the airport part. So wonderfully and it is only the eyes that doesn't match, but my oh my am I glad they didn't make RDA wear blue contacts!! Drooool!
I do find it better in the book though, that Sandy is a man there, where it's woman in the movie. A little confusing at first because I keept seeing Sandy as a woman, but still, better once you get used to it, I think.
Pandora's Clock is to be found on VHS you know, 'cause I bought it in Bilka a few years ago. But the rest of RDA's movies are not to be found, a real pitty since I would love to get my hands on Past the Bleachers and In the Eyes of a Killer on dvd. I totally LOVE Past the Bleachers, have you ever seen that? *sigh*
And yeah your right about RDA being the perfect match for the P.C movie, I wonder if the author of the book had rda in mind when he wrote it and just gave him blue eyes so he didn't have to listen to ppl saying that his character was a RDA rip-of, haha...

No, sadly, I haven't seen anything else RDA's made (BTW - watching Mac season 3 right now - oh, so cheasy... and my fingers are literally *itching* to take a pair of scissors to that awful hair. Why, WHY does it have to cover up that neck?), but like I said, I'm very, very tempted to try my hand at BitTorrent or eMule or something.

Date: 2007-06-02 08:55 am (UTC)lol, yes MacGyver is pretty cheesy esp. the part that there HAs to be a woman with way to much make-up, to wide shoulders and to big a hair, that he just has to kiss in every damn episode! Did the women in the 80's not know of self defense? and were they really that stupid and, well, girly? Gawd, it is after I watch those episodes that I fall deeper and deeper in love with Sam Carter! now there is a woman who knows what it means to be a woman!
I mean of cause Mac is a cute guy (your right, I like him better with short hair too, always have. With cheekbones like that and a neck and ears to match, why the hell do you want to cover it up?!)but to let your IQ drop to five as soon as he comes by, I really don't get. But the girls and the fake accents the bad guys always have to use, aside, I love the show: so full of nostalgia and feel-good memories for me.
You should try your luck for at least Past The Bleachers; it's a wonderfull little Hallmark movie, very sweet and lovely acting from everybody involved. Thumbs up for that...
