Writer's Block: Set Sail
Dec. 9th, 2008 09:45 pm[Error: unknown template qotd]Unsurprisingly I'm not much of a shipper. Slash-pairings I can do every day of the week - but ships? Now they are rare and hard to find.
Funnily enough, I actually started my fannish career out with a ship. A fairly unpopular one at that.
Completely at random, I stumbled into a fic - this was before I knew there was such a thing as fanfiction, and before I had even a clue that ships were being put to sea - which grabbed my attention. Utterly. So when the darned thing suddenly had Giles and Buffy kissing, my first reaction was: "Eew - gross!". But the story was too good to put down, so I finished it. And lo and behold - Giles and Buffy in a relationship suddenly seemed like the only way it could end.
So my first, last and (so far) only ship was Buffy/Giles - which laid the foundation for my other pairings. Supernatural bonds? Age-difference? Frowned upon by society? Suffering from inherrent unequalities which aren't so unequal when you look a little closer? Give me a pairing with some or all of that, and I'm happy. Now... if it's two hot guys... I'm not going to complain, y'know? ;-)
